Chocolate No-Milk Shake

Christmas Shopping. Seven days before Christmas.
Those words are enough to instil panic in even the calmest of people.
I spent 30 minutes in cue at Lee Valley only to leave with 1 of the 4 items I had wanted. And that item was the only one I didn't need to wait in cue for.
I stalked someone's grandmother at the music store for 15 minutes while she discussed with her friend Hazel whether she should buy the last copy of Mini Pops 8 for her grandson. Luckily, Hazel has a thing for Alvin and the Chipmunks.
I spent 25 minutes in line at the bookstore only to have the debit machines crash as soon as I reached the front of the line.
Needless to say, I really needed a drink. And chocolate.
And for me, that can only mean one thing.
Chocolate No-Milk Shake
Serves 2 or 1 extremely stressed-out Christmas shopper
1 avocado
1 frozen ripe banana
2 tablespoons hemp seeds
2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
¼ cup wheat-free oats
3 tablespoons maple syrup
1½ cups water
pinch of sea salt
Put it all in a blender and, well, blend everything together. This makes a super thick shake. If you prefer yours on the thinner side, add more water until it's just the way you like it.
The kids are home for Christmas vacation, so no more shopping for me. What's up for tomorrow? Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked.
Sigh. On second thought, I'm going to need something a bit stronger.
